9 Butterfly Court, Chiton — a quiet street five minutes from Port Elliot’s main strip, 90 seconds on foot from Chiton Rocks beach, and 90 minutes from central Adelaide. The locals’ bits below are the ones we actually send our own friends to.

Beaches

The two beaches you’ll use.

Chiton Rocks for sunrise walks, rock pools and learning-to-surf. Horseshoe Bay for families — protected swimming, a kiosk on the sand, paddleboard hire for the brave.

Chiton Rocks

A few minutes walk away. 300 metre walk to find the Surf break, tide pools, the Chiton Rocks SLSC patrols on summer weekends. Great for taking the boogie boards down.

5 min drive · 25 min walk. South Australia’s safest family swim. Kiosk on the sand, jetty for fishing, snorkelling around the headland. You can spend the whole day here, and it suits people of all ages, with playground, food, drinks, and of course the amazing beach.

Granite Island causeway, Victor Harbor

Victor Harbor

The famous town of Victor Harbor attracts many tourists because of the many things there are to do in the town. In peak season the population more than doubles because of this. You can walk across to Granite Island and see the animals. You can also get the horse drawn carriage across for an even better experience. They also have penguin tours at dusk each night. You can explore the island, and then stop off for a coffee at the cafe afterwards. It really makes for a lovely day.

Camel Rides and Pony Rides are often available which is a great experience to enjoy. There is also a cinema Victa Cinemas in the main street too.

Port Elliot

The town of Port Elliot is not far down the road, and has many of the things that you will need such as meats, fruit and veg, fish and chips and a lovely pub. While you are in Port Elliot, be sure to check out Horseshoe bay, which is a lovely family friendly beach and even has a couple of playgrounds. There is a beautiful restaurant there too, which makes some lovely meals.

You're already here. Home to the Chiton Restaurant, and beach. Formerly known as Hayborough it was recently changed to Chiton, home of Chiton Rocks beach.
